Meeker, Milestones

MHS Class of ‘52

MEEKER I May 23, 1952, was day of remembrance and celebration for 28 graduates of Rio Blanco County High School. June 2, 2012, was another day of remembrance and celebration for several of them as they gathered to share their 60-year class reunion and take part in the 100th anniversary of the Rio Blanco County Pioneers Association.
Five members of the Class of 1952 are no longer living: Myron Madsen, Keith Murray, Wayne Mangus, Erroll Hossack and Nina Richardson Schmidt. They are remembered and missed.
We tried to contact Jim Sullivan, Doris Rienau Valor, Jean Rector Foster, JoAnne Pilkington Cotton, Margaret Park Pitt and Betty Richardson Johnson.
Dixie Proctor Raley and Donna Linderman were “under the weather” and unable to attend at this time. We send our best wishes for better “weather” for both.
Thirteen classmates gathered for visiting hours and a banquet and dance, then enjoyed a follow-up get-together at the home of Sally Wilson June 3. They were joined by a few members of the class of 1951 and also 1953 (as they made plans for their own 60th reunion next year).
Classmates in attendance were Dona Howey Cloud from Port Angels, Wash.; Arloa Ivey Young from Palisade; Edna Randall Brumback from King Fisher, Okla.; Rodney Smith from Anchorage, Alaska; Colleen Vermillion Proctor from Whitewater; Patsy Seeley Richardson from Central Point, Ore.; Beth Pearce Cooney from Craig; Bill Finch from Colorado Springs; Joe Maez from Las Vegas, Nev.; Tom Watt from Glyndon, Minn.; Geoffrey Green from Rocky Hills, N.J.; Sally Joy Wilson from Meeker and Sue Ann Elliott Smith also from Meeker. Tom Fickle from Colorado Springs had planned to join us, but a great-granddaughter’s graduation took top priority.
Everyone enjoyed sharing news of life’s accomplishments, retirement joys, involvement with family and enjoying each and every day. Now, on to plans for our next reunion.
