Boettcher Foundation elects three new trustees

RBC I The Boettcher Foundation Board has announced the election of three new trustees. Comprised of 11 Colorado business and community leaders, trustees are responsible for the oversight of the Boettcher Foundation, including support and preservation of its vision and mission.

New trustees include:
n Russell George, president of Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC)
George is an alumnus of the Foundation’s Boettcher Scholarship Program and previously served as trustee of the organization from 2005-2007. From 1976 until 2000, George practiced law in the Rifle, Colo., law firm of Stuver and George, P.C., which handled water, real estate, oil and gas, business and other legal matters. In 1999, he was elected by his peers to be Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. He was first elected to the House in 1992 from District 57 representing Moffat, Rio Blanco, Garfield and Pitkin Counties in Western Colorado. George has served as executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources having been appointed by Governor Bill Owens in 2004 and concluding in 2006. From 2007 through 2010, he was appointed by Governor Bill Ritter to serve as executive director of the Colorado Department of Transportation.
He is a graduate of Rifle High School, Colorado State University, where he was a Boettcher Scholar, and Harvard Law School. He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1972 and the Montana Bar in 1975.
n Cile Chavez, president of Cile Chavez Consulting, Inc.
Chavez provides motivation and expertise to organizations in the private and public sectors on leadership and human development. Chavez served as superintendent and deputy superintendent of Littleton Public Schools; assistant dean of the College of Education, University of Northern Colorado; and as chair of the board of trustees of the State Colleges of Colorado.
n Sharon Linhart, founder and managing partner of Linhart Public Relations
Linhart founded Linhart Public Relations and has made it the most recognized public relations firm in the Rocky Mountain Region, including receiving the honor of Boutique Agency of the Year 2012 from PR Week. She has been involved with many great organizations throughout her career including, the Council of PR Firms Board, Worldcom Americas Board, Junior Achievement Board, Boy Scouts Board of Trustees, Craig Hospital Foundation Board, Mountain States Employers Council Board, PRSA and PRSA Colorado Chapter, Colorado Forum and the Women’s Forum.

Founded by Colorado’s prominent Boettcher family in 1937, the Boettcher Foundation invests in education, community services, health, and arts and culture through merit awards, scholarships and capital grants. The foundation is known for its prestigious Boettcher Scholarship Program which has offered thousands of full tuition scholarships to Colorado’s brightest high school students to attend state colleges. The foundation’s gifts and grants have benefitted communities throughout the state and helped develop facilities such as the Boettcher Concert Hall and Children’s Hospital Colorado.
