Rangely

Rangely Review: Nov. 6, 2008

RANGELY — Angels, witches, pumpkins, chained lovers, a mafia don accompanied by a flapper, conquistadores, a shepherd, a brain surgeon, a lady of the evening, a pajama-clad thumbsucker, Adam and Eve, Minnie Pearl, a blue-haired red-hatted lady along with various other folks making up a total number of 33 celebrated Halloween at the Radino nutrition site on Halloween Day.
Irene Rose, Grace Hayes and Pat Atherton put in the time and a great amount of effort to create lasting memories for all who attended. Prizes were awarded for best pumpkin carving and best costumes as well as prizes for winners of several fun games.
Local businesses and individuals provided prize money and certificates as follows: Pizza Hut in Vernal, Los Tres, Rangely Conoco, Rangely Liquors, Quality Carpet, Mi Swau, True Value, Sweetbriar, Tamara Williams, Karen Cassavaugh, Hunting Place, Sinclair, Napa, Irene Rose, Pat Atherton, Car Quest, Kum & Go, Back-to-Health, State Farm, Professional Touch, Moon Lake, Buck-n-Bull, Heart 2 Heart, W.R. Candle Company, Giovanni’s and the Radino Center.
Judges Paul McCracken and Joy Fix were hard-pressed to make decisions as everyone in costume had done a great job. Pumpkin carving — first: Carol Casto; second: Liz Price; third: Marilyn Fields. Costume — first: Ruthann Chavez; second: Dorothy Picken; third: Bonnie Hartman.
Entertainment was provided by Giant Step Daycare with eight children dressed up for Halloween along with Kari Way and her staff. Kari read stories to everyone about Alice the Fairy and then cookies provided by Eagle Crest, along with lots of candy, were given as treats to the kids. The Radino cooks, Karen and Tamara, handed out popcorn balls and candy to everyone.
The good-time day ended with the Rangely Rambler driving costumed seniors throughout the town as part of an annual ritual of “trick-or-treating” along Main Street.
