MACC to offer enrichment seminar

MEEKER I The Meeker Arts and Cultural Council (MACC) has entered into negotiations to provide enrichment seminars through higher education experts in performing arts for the youth and adults of the Meeker community. It is currently planned to begin these seminars in early 2013 and may include (but not be limited to) acting methods, history of theatre, directing, technical theatre (lighting, sound, stagecraft, scene design, makeup, costuming, et al).
Youth and adults of the community are invited to participate and are asked to indicate their preferences for the various offerings and indicate what the best time for participation would be (e.g., evenings, weekends) so that they can be scheduled. Future offerings may be expanded to fine arts and cultural programs such sculpting, painting, ceramics, photography and cinematography, cultural and historical seminars, and other fields of interest to Meeker youth and adults. Community members are asked to provide MACC with input as to what topics may be of interest to them through the MACC website email: [email protected] or by phone at 970-439-0183.
MACC and the Rio Blanco County Historical Society have entered into negotiations to bring an Abraham Lincoln re-enactor to Meeker in February to provide historical “live conversations” with one of the greatest U.S. presidents. This event would be similar to the Teddy Roosevelt re-enactor who visited Meeker a few years ago. The proposal is to provide interactive sessions for students of the Meeker School District as well as for community members. These presentations have been very popular and enjoyable for all participants.
The “Paint the Wall” Mural project to be installed on the Shepherd’s Office Outfitter’s east wall is progressing with design submissions still being accepted and considered for implementation in June 2013.
The MACC participation in the Capitol Christmas Tree celebration was successful and included having a float in the parade of lights where MACC flyers and wristbands were distributed. Special thanks to Stephanie Kobald and Vanessa Trout for their exceptional contributions to this great effort.
Youth and adults as well as businesses and organizations of the community are invited to participate in MACC. Corporate participation and donations are also welcomed to provide arts and cultural opportunities for the Community. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the old elementary school at Fifth and Main. For more information contact MACC at the above listed email and phone number.
