DA’s office seeks coordinator for sexual assault response team

RBC I A coordinator is being sought to develop a community Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) specifically targeting rural communities that do not currently have a SART program.
The 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Glenwood Springs announced Thursday that it had received grant funding through the state’s Department of Criminal Justice. The position runs from June 2013 through September 2014.
SART is a multi-disciplinary, interagency collaboration that unites community members in a coordinated victim-centered and offender-focused approach to provide specialized sexual assault investigation and prosecution services to the community. The team is comprised of law enforcement, prosecutors, medical personnel and other agencies responsible for the investigation and prosecution as well as services to the victims of sexual assault.
The goal of SART is to standardize and coordinate prosecution, sexual assault investigations and evidence collection as well as provide services to adult and adolescent sexual assault victims. The coordinator will work with law enforcement, medical personnel and other agencies in the community to also develop a medical-forensic exam program for adult and adolescent sexual assault victims.
