Pakuer, Vroom, Turner and Klinglesmith win Ranch Rodeo

MEEKER I The Range Call celebration has once again come to a successful end. This year saw new events as well as the long-standing tradition of rodeo, and what a rodeo it was.
With only one performance on Saturday afternoon, the slack was a full event, showcasing top athletes and some great stock from the contractors.
In the rough stock events, the bulls bucked hard and the saddle bronc and bareback riders found themselves up against some very strong horses. With approximately 30 barrel racers, mixed team roping teams, as well as open roping teams, the competition was fierce.

Local competitors, including Cynda Norell, who did well in the break-away calf roping, and youngsters Ellie Anderson and Cash Atwood came out to compete with the adults — Ellie in the break-away roping and Cash competing in the open team roping with partner Neil Brennan. They caught their calf, but the five-second penalty for one hind foot put them out of the money.
Joe Wood and Travis Anderson broke the barrier, making their fast run of 5.4 seconds a 15.4 and too long for the money.
Brett Watson and Cynda Norrell again in the team roping with a combination of partners were also entered in the team roping.

The rodeo was once again a highlight of the festivities. It was great to see local cowgirls and cowboys competing with a promise of the future in rodeo looming bright, with young kids willing to enter and take their chances against the competition.
In the ranch rodeo, contestants teamed up in four-person teams to complete four ranch-like tasks in the shortest time possible.
This year, there were nine teams entered, and the team of Lenny Klinglesmith, Coley Turner, Buddy Pakuer, and Ryan Vroman won with a very fast time of 3:44. The team of Neil Brennan, Rowdy and Kash Atwood and Travis Anderson finished second with a time of 4:02. Finishing third were Coley Turner, Hallie Blunt, J.C. Chintala and Aaron Webster.
Following the four-man competition, there were three-family events in which teams of four to six members worked to pin three yearlings, sort numbered cattle out of a bunch and push steers around the cloverleaf pattern before roping them.
The team including Travis, Teresa, Ellie and Lane Anderson competed strongly as did the Klinglesmith team of Lenny, Jackie, Lila, Lori-Ann and Brodi-Ann. The team of Ryan Vroman, his young son, Jayce, Kenzie Turner, Hallie Blunt and Brodi-Ann Klinglesmith finished second in one event and tied for first in the another while the team of Rowdy and Kash Atwood, Teresa Anderson, Lane Anderson and Kenzie Turner with Neil Brennan, won two of the events.
Overall, the rodeo was fun to watch, and it was exciting to see the skills of the young and upcoming cowboys and cowgirls.
It is always made more exciting by the calcutta before the event, allowing spectators the opportunity to be involved. This year, Andy Coryell was the big winner with Shawn Moody having the second-place team and Kelly Sheridan and Ben Rogers combining to win third place.
