Obituary: Douglas Ray Rust

Dec. 18, 1950 ~ Nov. 3, 2021

Douglas Ray Rust returned home to his Heavenly Father on Nov. 3, 2021, at the age of 70.

Doug was the oldest of four children born to Lydia C.Brandt and Elton Ray Rust on Dec. 18, 1950. Doug grew up in Morgan, Utah. He graduated from Morgan High in 1969 and married Rayola Boren on Feb. 10, 1973. Doug and Rayola have five children: Juanita, Randy, Michelle, Greg and Steven.

Doug learned early in life how to be a hard worker. As a young child, Doug gained a passion for ranching as he worked alongside his Grandpa Alva George Rust. Doug would often go to the ranch and spend hours before and after school assisting his Grandpa with the chores. This is where Doug gained his dedication for ranch life.  Doug worked most of his life as a ranch hand in Meeker. Doug loved his job and excelled in his career. Doug also mastered the art of flood irrigation. He could make water move uphill to cover every piece of ground.

Doug enjoyed sports such as wrestling, hunting, rodeo and football. He was also a member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Doug was a 4-H leader throughout his children’s 4-H years. He was the swine superintendent for many years as well.

Doug had a great passion for his family and friends. He was a very patient teacher. He was honest, hardworking, and a true cowboy. Whenever anything was needed, Doug would find a way to assist those close to him. He was engaged in his work and dedicated to his family. Doug had a great sense of humor. His smile and quick wit will be greatly missed by all.

Doug was preceded in death by: Rayola Boren Rust; his parents, Ray and Lydia Rust; an infant son, Greg Douglas Rust.

Doug is survived by his children: Juanita Rust, Randy (Qiana) Rust, Michelle (Aaron) Weston, Steven (Rachel) Rust.  His grandchildren: Greg (Kelsey), Tristen, and Samantha Rohn; Qi’Sean (Camry), Qi’Ton (Morgan), and Raeleigh Rust; Haley Weston; Johnny, Davin, Ethan, Keanan, Bearett, and Kaya-Rae Rust. Great-grandchildren:  Kynlee, Braylee Mae and Dalton; Ellery Rust. His sisters: Bethann (Dennis) Guymon, Melinda Savage, Lujean (Derek) Nandu. Many other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held at the Croydon Utah Cemetery located at 1620-1762 North 6800 E. in Croydon, Utah, 84018 on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at 1 p.m..
