Obituary: Elizabeth Ellen DeVore

Liz DeVore
Liz DeVore
Liz was born Jan. 6, 1949, the third child of Whitey and Mary Eliasen. She was born up the White River above Meeker, which she always considered to be her home, no matter where she lived.
Liz was blessed with two sons, Steve was born May 5, 1959, and Kerry was born Oct. 8, 1960.
Liz worked hard as a single mother to take care of her boys. She loved to watch them in their sports – Steve in football and rodeo and Kerry in basketball.
Liz loved babies, kids, cats, working in her yard, dancing, bowling, darts and the Denver Broncos. Liz also loved writing and receiving letters and shopping with her best friend and sister, Elaine, and Liz loved Christmas, even in July.
Liz always had time for coffee and a visit, and her advice was thoughtful and usually right. She always made you feel better when you left.
Liz was a great person to have as an aunt because she loved babies. Her only grandson and great-granddaughter were too far away to spoil to her satisfaction, so she was always excited to hear all the cute and funny things that everyone else’s babies said and did.
Liz stood ramrod straight and proud. Whoever met her remembered her piercing blue eyes.
Liz is survived by her sons, Steve (Lynn) and Kerry; her grandson, Ryan; her great-granddaughter; her siblings, Edgar (Jan), Elaine, Enid (Dave), Ellis, Sissy (Don), Jenny (Ken), Jerry (Catherine), Johnny, Sue (Roger), Zina, Ronny and Sara (Mac); lots of nephews and nieces and great-nephews and grand-nieces and some great-great ones too.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Whitey and Mary, and brothers Earl and Elton.
Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Meeker at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery.
