CNCC Fall Rodeo season ends, spring in five months

RANGELY I The Colorado Northwestern Community College rodeo athletes rode, roped and tied their last event of the Rocky Mountain Region’s fall season last weekend in Logan, Utah, and they will be practicing and training for the next five months, for when the spring season begins.
The CNCC Spartan Women’s team had their best showing of the year so far, with room for improvement. They placed a school record fourth out of 10 schools.
Carly Hibbs made CNCC Spartan history by being the first women’s team athlete to win a go-round at an event. She won the first round of goat tying by .4 tenths of a second. She finished fourth overall and has moved into the top six in the Rocky Mountain regional standings.
Teammate Teasha Moody also placed well in goat tying, finishing sixth.
Taylor Duzik earned her first points of the year by placing fourth in the first round of breakaway roping and sixth overall.
The Spartan men couldn’t quite get the point tally they had hoped for despite solid performances by several team members, finishing sixth of 10 teams.
Clay Crozier continued on his quest for the Regional All-Around title by placing in the calf roping in the first round.
Bareback bronc riders Jesse Anderson and Dax Koskie added a few points to their totals with Anderson finishing second for the event and Dax in fourth.
Steer wrestler Wade Grimshaw has made points at every college rodeo and is steadily marching along in the standings.
Bull rider Chris Bushaw made his college rodeo debut after having been cleared to compete after his shoulder surgery last spring. Chris didn’t finish in the points, but he definitely turned some heads with his effort and talents.
The team-roping duo of Clay Crozier and Brody Adams didn’t make any points this weekend, but they remain on top of the regional standings, ahead of 2012-2013 regional champs Megan and Dalan Gunter.
