Jack Hillis
Jack Hillis
Longtime Rangely resident Jack Kenneth Hillis, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013. Jack was the son of Loyce O. and Tula M. Hillis. He was born Oct. 22, 1929, in Clinton, Okla.
Jack was graduated from Central High School. He joined the Navy after high school and was stationed in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, until 1954. In 1952, Jack married the love of his life, Pauline Lois Hefley. Jack and Peggy spent many years in Rangely, Colo., where he worked in the oil field as a welder, pumper and operator of shallow leases.
When he retired, the family moved to Palisade, Colo., until the death of his beloved Peggy in 1987. In 1987, he married Lola Rosette and they later moved to Montrose. In his later years, he returned to the Grand Junction area until the time of his death.
Jack was a very kind and loving father and husband. He was an awesome “Boppa” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved the Lord and made Him a priority in his life. Jack was a member of A House for His Name church in Kannah Creek.
He enjoyed farming, his fruit orchards and raising cattle.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; his wife, Lola; two brothers, Loyce Jr. and Travis; and great-grandson, Soren.
Jack is survived by Patsy (Jon) Drindak, Nancy (Jim) MacIntosh of Fruita, Susan (Jerry) Anderson of Evergreen, Colo., Kenny (Georgia) Hillis of Mack, Dennis (Lori) Rosette of Grand Junction; grand children Erin (Jon) McEvers, Evergreen, Colo., Keenan (Ashley) Anderson of Grand Junction, Stephanie (Ty) Petersburg of Evergreen, Erik (Stephanie) Ebbesen of Loma; Jon (Kayo) Drindak of Los Alamitos, Calif., Brook (Don) Wilson of Silt, Colo., Zach MacIntosh of Grand Junction, Karl (Kyli) Rosette of Las Vegas, Nev., Shane (Heather) Stephen Mansfield of Texas, Jamie (Ray) McLennan of Fruita; and great-grandchildren Addison, Quinn, Boden, Lukas, Juli, Nathan, Hannah, Austin, Adam, Charlee Rose and Tegan.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 3 at Canyon View Vineyards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope West Hospice Care Center.
