RBC I The American Red Cross will celebrate 100 years of service in Colorado and Wyoming in 2014. As part of its Century Celebration, the Red Cross in Northern Colorado will honor community heroes at its Celebrating a Century of Community Heroes event on April 23, and the public is needed to help identify those heroes.
The Red Cross is seeking nominations of those who have performed heroic acts, saved lives or performed outstanding service to their country or community. The Celebrating Community Heroes event seeks to highlight stories that exemplify the spirit of the mission of the American Red Cross: to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
With the 100-year anniversary, the Red Cross is looking for individuals and organizations who have made a difference through their acts of courage. Nominations may be submitted online at www.RedCross.org/ Colorado-nominate. The deadline to submit nominations is Jan. 15. However, we are always looking for the stories of community heroes who have saved a life or gone above and beyond to prevent or alleviate human suffering in the face of an emergency.
“Coloradans have risen up with courage and clear minds in the face of historic disasters, sudden crises and gut-wrenching emergencies. Out of these incidents, extraordinary stories have emerged, and this is our chance to celebrate those heroes.” said Erin Mounsey, executive director of the American Red Cross in Northern Colorado. “In the darkest of hours, everyday heroes from our communities have saved lives, served their country, alleviated human suffering and impacted lives. We hope you will help us honor some of these heroes by nominating them for recognition.”
Make sure to also mark your calendars and save the date for the Celebrating a Century of Community Heroes event on April 24. All proceeds will support the lifesaving work of your American Red Cross. It’s an important event that will leave you, and your family and friends, inspired and filled with hope while supporting the work of your local Red Cross.
