Obituary: Zane Bridger Powell

March 31, 1998 ~ Nov. 25, 2021

Zane Bridger Powell was born on March 31, 1998, in Sterling, Colorado, to Brett and Dani (Wood) Powell, and died on Nov. 25, 2021, at the age of 23. Services for Zane will be held at the Exhibit Center located at the Logan County fairgrounds, in Sterling, Colorado, on Dec. 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. Immediately following the services we will be going to the Sterling Livestock Commission Auction House at 20197 Riverside Dr. for a celebration of Zane’s Life until 7 p.m. The service will also be streamed live at: www.facebook.com/tennantfuneralhomes

Zane graduated from Sterling High School in 2016, where he was involved in football, FFA, and 4-H where he showed livestock. He then attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruses, New Mexico, and then attended World Wide Auctioneering School in September 2018 where he was certified in both English and Spanish auctioneering. He was on the Colorado State 4-H officer team for two years and serving as President for the 2015-2016 year. During that time he traveled to Washington D.C. where he met with other leaders from across the country to come up with ways to better enhance 4-H programs across the country.  Zane’s true love was cows and he worked for Sterling Livestock Commission Company, the Star Ranch in Nebraska and then moved to Brenham, Texas, where he was working on a ranch until his death.

He had lots of great friends and knew no strangers. He was known for his outrageous Snapchats and Facebook comments. He had such a great zest for life with his big heart, smart remarks and his ability to know all most any question he was asked, and he was 99% right most of time. He could spend hours with someone discussing how to solve the world’s problems, or at least he thought he knew how to solve them.  Some of his hobbies included hunting, camping, socializing, country dancing and chasing girls, just to name a few.  But his greatest accomplishment was donating himself to save others for his final gift and final deed. So you may meet him again in or on someone else.

He is survived by his parents Brett and Dani Powell, and his grandparents Jean Wood (Meeker, Colorado), Patty and Walter Powell (Rangely, Colorado), numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends, and his beloved dog, Whiskey.

He is preceded in death by his Grandpa Wood (Dan) and two aunts, Juli Guinn and Kati Buttram.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in the memory of Zane Powell C/O Tennant Funeral home PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO. 80751.
