• Among the latest additions to the population of Meeker is Ed Clark from Mt. Sterling and he will be taking up work in the lumber office of Sheridan & Smith.
• A large number of fine shade and fruit trees will be planted in Meeker and vicinity this spring.

• Meeker television received a boost last week when the First National Bank of Denver approved a request of $8,000 to the Town of Meeker, representing a distribution from the Freeman Fairfield Charitable Trust for purchase of a television translator and equipment.
• On the basis that he does not believe the national Forest policy of “multiple use” of lands under their management is either practical or applicable, Glynn Fraser, Buford, notified District Ranger Dale L. Harthan, Meeker District Office, that he will test the policy in a friendly suit on Aug. 16 this year.

• A Meeker man was arrested on charges of first degree burglary, second and third degree assault, false imprisonment , and four counts of felony menacing after he allegedly entered a residence at 1033 Main St. belonging to his former girlfriend’s current boyfriend and beat him in the face breaking several bones.
• A Meeker High School junior and his father are recuperating after a metal irrigation pipe they were holding touched a 7.2 volt overhead powerline.

• Members of the community are invited to take advantage of a new service at the Rangely College library according to Mrs. Jean Seals librarian. A “500’ Reader-Printer which is capable of handling both 16 mm and 35 mm film or microfilm has been acquired by the library and is ready for use by library staff members to assist patrons who need service.
• Mrs. Roberts Hoff has been appointed Associate County judge at Rangely by Governor John Love, succeeding Cecil Lollar who resigned recently.
