•  Gates Kersburg opened “The Old Kentucky Liquor Store” to the public on Monday and was well patronized. When the finishing touches are put on it, the bar will be one of the most elegant in the state.  

•  Yesterday afternoon, District Game Warden Kilduff seized a cache of deer hides found in a vacant cabin up Sulfur.

•  Our streets and roads near Meeker are in the best shape we have ever seen this time of the year. It shows what constant care will do. 

•  The American Legion is going to support a ball team this year. The first practice will be tomorrow.

• Christo is expected in Rifle in mid-May to resume his efforts to put up his “Valley Curtain” across Rifle Gap. 

•  The Meeker Local History Class is in the process of compiling written and taped biographies and autobiographies of pioneers who settled the Meeker area. They plan to publish these pioneer histories within the next year.

•  Two Meeker teens were injured April 28 when the 1978 Chevrolet Suburban in which they were riding left the pavement on Highway 64, and overturned. 

•  A Meeker woman suffered only minor bumps and bruises on April 27th when the horse she was riding unexpectedly collapsed and died on a hillside near Starbuck Stadium.

•  A contract was signed with the Yellow Jacket Conservancy District last week by the county commissioners to sell 61 cubic feet per second of water, held by the county as owners of the Highland Ditch under a conditional decree, to the District for $10,000.

•  Betsy Tousley, eighth grader from Dinosaur, was the winner of the Moffat County spelling contest held April 7th at Craig. She will compete in Denver May 6 for the state contest, sponsored by the Rocky Mountain News.

•  The Cavalcade of cartoon Circus Stars, live and in person, is coming to town with trained animals, exciting jugglers, tumblers, dancing dogs, amazing aerialists, and more. 

•  The volunteers and staff of the Colorado Welcome Center in Dinosaur will open the center on May 1 with new and exciting information on what there is to see and do in Colorado.
