NEWS NOTES: MAY 5, 2022

White River Alliance meeting

MEEKER | The next White River Alliance meeting (Zoom and in person) is May 5 at 6 p.m., location to be announced. The meeting topic is “Underground Filtration Galleries: How do they work and what are their benefits?” with speakers  Frank Alfone, director of the Mount Werner Water District in Steamboat Springs, and Travis Day, owner/operator of  Water Pump and Supply Services LLC in Meeker.  

Emergency preparedness talk at Streamline

MEEKER | Stop by Streamline Realty at 600 Main Street Friday, May 6 at 8 a.m. for free coffee and a presentation by Bud Ridings on Outdoor Emergency Essentials so you can be prepared for your outdoor adventures.

Meeker book club

MEEKER | The book club will be reading “The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu” by Joshua Hammer. We will discuss the book on Monday, May 9 at 1 p.m. All are welcome to join in the fun.

MHS art show

MEEKER | The annual Meeker High School Art Show will be held downtown in Meeker at Streamline Realty (600 Main St.) from May 9-13. There will be an opening reception Sunday, May 8 from 5-7 p.m. and the art show will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 9 through Thursday, May 12.

MHS spring play

MEEKER | Meeker High School Drama will present murder mystery comedy “The Alibis” May 12, 13, and 14 at 7 p.m. at the MHS Auditorium. Admission is $5.

MHS choir concert

MEEKER | The Meeker High School Choir is excited to present “Best of Broadway” along with several other choral selections for the spring concert in the Meeker Public Library’s outside courtyard on Tuesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a casual concert atmosphere and coffee from Wendll’s. There is no entrance fee although donations are welcome.

Night at the Museum

MEEKER | Meeker Elementary School fifth-graders will host Night at the Museum in the Meeker Elementary School gymnasium on Tuesday, May 17 from 6-7 p.m.

Community theater auditions 

MEEKER | Audition for the 2022 Community Theater Production of “9 to 5, the Musical!” Wednesday, May 18, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Meeker High School Auditorium. Performances will be August 11, 12 and 13, 2022. More info at www.meekerartsandculture.org/theater
