Hoyte Glade Williams was born June 20, 1931, to Harold John and Evelyn Gardiner Williams at Vernal, Utah.
Hoyte had two sisters who preceded him in death: Syble Barney and Glenda Richardson of Meeker, Colorado.
The family moved down by Rangely, Colorado, when Hoyte was 1-1/2 years old and lived there until he was five years old. They moved to Meeker where he attended school until fourth grade, then moved to the Gillis Ranch, 35 miles west of Meeker. He attended White River City school through his freshman year. He attended Meeker High School before moving to New Castle, Colorado, to finish his sophomore and junior years. He graduated from Rifle High School in 1949.
He worked on ranches in the Rifle area until he entered the U.S. Army in 1952. He served two years in Japan. Hoyte was in the tank division where he received sharp shooter accommodations and leadership recognitions.
He graduated from Mesa College and took a job for the Employment Services Division for the State of Colorado In Colorado Springs. He worked 32 years for the state of Colorado.
Hoyte married Rita Angela Wells on April 10, 1955. They were married for 44 years before her passing in 1999. They had three children: Galyn Lee, Cleo Renee and Lain Harold.H is son Lain has passed away. Hoyte had 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Hoyte married Joyce Layton in 2003. They enjoyed traveling and camping until her passing in 2015.
Hoyte was true to his spirit of helping others. His kindness and love for others was unending. He loved hunting and fishing and experiencing the outdoor life. He was always looking for ways to improve life wherever it found him.
He passed away Dec. 21, 2021, in Grand Junction, Colorado. He will be physically missed but remembered within the legacy he created. His memory lives on in all those that knew and loved him
