NEWS NOTES: Aug 4, 2022

SCAM ALERT

MEEKER | Several WREA members have received SCAM calls demanding payment and claiming that WREA will shut off power in 30 minutes for failure to pay a bill. If you receive one of these calls, PLEASE hang up and call WREA AT 970-878-5041. WREA DOES NOT ask for payment over the phone and has a written process for delinquent accounts.

August book club

MEEKER | The book club will be choosing biographies individually to read. We will discuss the books on Monday, Aug. 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Meeker Public Library. All are welcome to join in the fun.

Free legal clinic

MEEKER | Upcoming free legal clinic Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. Contact your Meeker Library at 970-878-5911 to be added to the sign-up sheet. All free. Space is limited.

Meet and greet candidates Aug. 11

MEEKER | Meet and greet two candidates Thursday, Aug. 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Smoking River Brewing Co., 101 E. Market Street in the private back room. First 10 arrivals get a free beer! Colorado State House of Representative candidate Meghan Lukens (D) is running for the new House District 26 seat (Routt, Moffat, Rio Blanco and a portion of Eagle County) and candidate Dylan Roberts (D) is running for Colorado State Senate District 8.

RBC | Have you done it? Checked out the rbcpioneer.org website? All you need to know about the ‘50s themed dinner/dance on Aug. 20. Everyone over 18 is invited. Registration closes Aug. 12. Register online or see the ad on Page 4A in this week’s paper.

9 to 5: The Musical

MEEKER | Save the date for Meeker Arts and Cultural Council’s community theater production of “9 to 5: The Musical.” There will be performances Aug. 11, 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. at the Meeker High School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door and are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. All proceeds support the Meeker Arts and Cultural Council. Production is rated PG-13. Concessions provided by and benefit the Meeker Ecology program.
