MEEKER | Meeker celebrated Homecoming week early this year. Festivities included a parade down Main Street on Friday, Sept. 23, followed by a pep rally on the courthouse lawn. MHS senior Ruby Holliday sung the national anthem.This year’s parade marshals were Ed and Bonnie Coryell.Sparkly bell bottoms added even more Cowboy spirit to the parade sidelines.Little Cowboy fans also enjoyed waving their gold pom poms from Homecoming activities at MES.The (very large) cast of Newsies, Jr. piled on to a float in matching t-shirts. Two pint-size pilots led the senior class’s ‘Top Gun’ float down Main Street.The senior class ‘Top Gun’ float.The sophomore class (we think) chose a Lord of the Rings theme for their float. It featured wizards, elves and other magical creatures.The junior class tied up two Roaring Fork Rams on their Spiderman float.It featured not one, but TWO Spider-people. #webtasticThe freshman class took home top honors for their Jurassic Park float. We loved the dog-o-saurus additions, as well.MHS football continued a longstanding tradition of riding atop Meeker Volunteer Fire & Rescue’s emergency vehicles during the parade.BMS Cowboys headed down Main on a great big trailer.The MHS golf team zigged and zagged their way down the parade route.Volleyballers showed off their skills as they headed down Main Street.The parade was two thumbs up, according to junior Ellie Hossack.MHS volleyball went on to win all their homecoming matches against Rangely.Cowboy volleyball’s biggest little fan.The Meeker Mustangs were well-represented, too.We think they had fun, don’t you?
