MEEKER I Only 6% of Colorado’s public schools receive state accreditation, Meeker School District Superintendent Chris Selle said Monday at the regular school board meeting. Meeker schools have received accreditation for the last seven years in a row including COVID years and for four “if you don’t count COVID years.”
“It’s quite an accomplishment for our staff,” Selle said.
Barone Middle School history teacher Kris Casey has been named History Day Teacher of the Year for her efforts with the Colorado History Day program. Meeker students have consistently performed well at the regional and state level of competition.
“She’s put a lot of time and energy into History Day. It’s really cool she got that recognition and we’ll honor her in person in May,” said Barone Middle School Principal Katie Johnston.
The district is expecting attendance, which will be officially counted and turned in to the state on Monday, Oct. 3, to track pretty close to what was expected, according to Selle. Funding per student is about $9,600 per year.
The board also approved new substitute teachers Carrie Campbell, Dan Francis and Krista Benner, discussed pending policy revisions, agreed to opt out of the FAMLI employer contribution after a vote from staff, approved an updated BOCES agreement and a thank you letter to the Rangely School District for IT support.
