MEEKER | Construction of the greenhouse at Meeker High School is expected to be complete by August, according to Principal Amy Chinn, in time for the 2023-24 school year. At Barone Middle School, HVAC upgrades are underway.
Meeker Board of Education members met Monday, June 26. They approved a resolution of appreciation for retiring Meeker Public Library director Mike Bartlett for his support of the school district and its students over the years, accepted a letter of resignation from Janelle Urista effective at the end of the 2023-24 school year, approved hiring Krista Benner as a special education paraprofessional at Barone, and approved a transfer for April Allen from special education paraprofessional to Title I paraprofessional.
Trustees reviewed a preliminary 2023 budget and tabled awarding a bid for a new bus.
Superintendent Chris Selle said there will be a school board election in November, with a call for nominations about to go out and petitions available in early August.
The board will not meet again until Aug. 8 for a work session at 7 p.m.
