RBC I Novice bird hunters are invited to attend Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s “Upland Game Bird Hunting 101” seminar from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Hunter Education Building, 711 Independent Avenue in Grand Junction.

Topics will cover several game bird hunting basics, including bird habitat, biology, behavior and distribution of both native and non-native birds. In addition, hunting regulations, field dressing and recipes will be part of the evening’s discussion.
“Participants will have a great opportunity to get first-hand information from experienced bird hunters,” CPW education coordinator Kathleen Tadvick said. “Their passion for the sport is really apparent as they teach this class, which makes for a fun learning environment.”
Tadvick adds that the use of hunting dogs in the field will be a part of the class agenda. Upland Game Bird Hunting 101 is offered through the Hunter Outreach Program. The program teaches novice and inexperienced hunters the knowledge, skills, ethics, and traditions of hunting.
Through workshops, clinics, seminars, and mentored hunts, the program appeals to diverse interests, backgrounds and levels of ability, helping novices through the first steps toward becoming a part of Colorado’s hunting heritage and traditions.
