
MEEKER | The 2024 season for Meeker High School Track closed out its regular season with the annual Cardinal Invitational at Grand Valley High School.
Eight champions were crowned from the Cowboys, Taylor Garcia ran a 1 minute 3.32 second 400-meter run, the girls 4×100 meter relay ran a personal record setting 51.81 second time, Reese Clatterbaugh jumped 31 feet 8.75 inches in triple jump, Alex Garcia high jumped 5 feet 9 inches, Sam Hightower pole vaulted 12 feet 5 inches, and Judd Harvey threw a PR of 49 feet 3 inches in shot put. There were 12 additional Cowboys that placed in the top three, making it the most successful meet to date.
“I would like to thank all of the seniors for their hard work and dedication over the past four years,” said head coach Hallie Blunt.
This year’s seniors are Ainsley Selle, Jayde Turner, Ellie Hossack, Natalie Kracht, Celine Lazano, Judd Harvey, Jacob Simonsen, Dawson Willey and Gabe Smithers.
“They have been outstanding leaders this year,” continued Blunt. “They have given themselves the opportunity to have a big weekend. There are seniors that didn’t qualify but have grown so much and contributed by participating and working hard. I’m excited for the weekend, it’s the fun part when they can embrace the moment knowing they have put the work in.”
Qualifying for the 2024 Colorado State Track Meet are: Hossack, Turner, Garcia and Ainsley in the 4×100, Hossack, Adi, Garcia, and Ainsley in the 4×200, the girls 4×400 and 4×800 meter relays of Hossack, Turner, Garica and Braydin Raley, 800 sprint medley relay with Ainsley, Natalie Kracht, Reese Clatterbaugh and Addison Knowles, Adison Selle 300-meter hurdles, Knowles discus, Hightower pole vault, Harvey shot, Alex Garcia long jump.
