Texan Ron Enzeroth wins Meeker Classic

MEEKER I Below are the finals and the final results from the 2014 Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials, held Sept. 3-7 in Ute Park at Meeker, Colo.

The five days of trials, semi finals and finals ran from nearly dawn to early evening with smaller crowds on Wednesday and Thursday but attendence picked up and was excellent on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Organizers said Tuesday they did not have the final attendence numbers completed, but estimates were running between 5,000 and 6,000 attendees during the three days.
Canada was the only foreign country represented at the Meeker Classic this year, but there were 25 dog/handler combinations this year. They haled from several of the Canadian provinces, as far away as Ontario province with most residing Alberta or British Columbia.
The finalists were:
1 – Ron Enzeroth with Mick, won $5,000, from Dublin, Texas
2 – Scott Glen with Don, won $2,000, from New Dayton, Alberta, Canada
3 – Ron Burkey with Shadow, won $1,378, from Boerne, Texas
4 – Shauna Gourley with Keli, won $1,296, from Ogden, Utah
5 – Barbara Ray with Stella, won $1216, from Millboro, Virg.
6 – Ron Burkey with Sky, won $1,134, from Boerne, Texas
7 – Beverly Lambert with Joe, won $1,054, from Andover, Conn.
8 – Jean Gellings with Star, won $972, from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada
9 – Bill Berhow with Cley, won $892, Zamora, Calif.
10 – Mindy Bower with Possum, won $810, from Kiowa, Colo.
11- Barbara Ross with Trim, won $730, from Evansville Wyo.
12- Art Irvin with Boss, won $648, from Montrose, Mont.
