We live in an age of fact, not fiction; for every effect is assigned some simple and natural cause.

The town authorities are doing a praiseworthy act in having the weeds in and around the park cut. The operation should be extended to the entire town.

Rustling horses (otherwise known as stealing) is said to be in a flourishing condition in this county.

Fred Burke, Piceance pioneer spent a few days in town this week.

Mrs. Nellie Sheridan arrived home Tuesday after a lengthy visit with relatives at Mt. Sterling, Ill. Mrs. Sheridan will take up her residence at the old Sheridan home in town.

Sam Himes of Marvine was in town this week on his way to Glenwood, he being the first victim of our new game warden. Peterson is said to have found both hides and deer meat on Sam’s ranch.

MEEKER 50

Sixteen attended a Class of ‘69 picnic held at the South Fork Campground Sunday afternoon.

Having sold their 420 acre ranch to Wes Raley, Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Ivie and daughter will now make their home in Montrose where they will manage the Green Acre Trailer Park which they recently purchased.

Richard Ellsworth, Ag instructor at Meeker High School, was selected as one of 30 instructors to teach at the National Cooperative Institute Aug. 6-9.

Christena Amick, daughter of James and Paula Amick, competed in this year’s Ladies Lead. Christena and her sheep each dressed in a matching outfit made of wool.

Judy Raley, Billy Goedert, Michelle Ekstrom, Kelsey Tate, Billy Ekstrom, and Hillary Hayes were the high point winners of the performance classes at the county fair horse show.

The argument over all-year daylight savings time boils down to a choice between mugged on the way to work or on the way home. 

Compliments are like perfume. They should be inhaled but not swallowed.

Pat Mobley was home recently from Denver visiting with his parents, the Dave Mobleys.

On Saturday, August 21, approximately 100 area youth from Rangely and Dinosaur participated in Splash Dance, which was held at the Recreation Center. The event, sponsored by Healthy Alternatives, Rangely 4-H and Elks BPO, included dancing, swimming, door prizes, and all-you-can-eat-pizza for those in attendance.

For people that like ice cream and those that will take pride in making it, there will be an ice cream social at the Rangely Museum, Sunday September 5, beginning at 2 p.m.
