MHS Ecology Trip Fundraiser Oct. 20
MEEKER | Join 22 MHS students at the Smoking River Brewery (101 E Market St.) this Sunday, Oct. 20 from 12-5 p.m. to help them raise funds for an ecology trip to Costa Rica in June 2025. Live music, silent auction, and food. Suggested donations: $25 per meal; $60 for a family of four.
Historical Society quarterly gathering Sunday, Oct. 20
MEEKER | This Sunday at 1 p.m. come share stories with the Rio Blanco County Historical Society during the quarterly membership meeting. Storytelling entertainment is planned, along with pulled pork tacos for lunch. Bring a side dish to share. If you are a member and need to renew, this is a good time to do so. And if you aren’t a member yet, please come join us on Sunday at the Heritage Culture Center (517 Park Ave.).

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library is thrilled to invite you to view artwork dedicated to our resident cat, Books, crafted by the talented students of the Meeker High School College Drawing Class! The art exhibition will run Oct. 21-25 in the Library Community Room.

Fair Board October meeting moved to Tuesday, Oct. 22
MEEKER | The monthly Fair Board meeting was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24 in Meeker. A conflicting schedule with school district parent/teacher conferences necessitates changing this month’s meeting to Tuesday, Oct. 22. The meeting will be in Exhibit Hall #1 at the county fairgrounds in Meeker, starting at 6 p.m.
Candy donations sought for Wing trick-or-treaters

‘May the Forest Be With You Always’ Poster Judging Contest at Streamline Oct. 28-31
MEEKER | This competition celebrates ‘Stewardship Week’ hosted by the White River Conservation District and the National Association of Conservation Districts. The Barone Middle School sixth-grade students created posters with the theme of promoting forest conservation. You choose the final three to win cash prizes with the winner going to state finals. Non-lethal Wolf Conflict Reduction Training Nov. 4

The main focus of this training is to educate the public and producers on effectively handling encounters with wolves.
