Cowboy Kickoff Classic set for Aug. 14
MEEKER | The 2026 Cowboy Kickoff Classic golf and cornhole tournament will be held Aug. 14 to benefit the Meeker High School Cowboy football program. A four-person golf scramble begins at 1 p.m. The cost is $75 per person and includes nine holes, a cart, a shirt and hole prizes. The cornhole tournament begins at 3:30 p.m. and costs $20 per person. A silent auction will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the clubhouse. To register, call 970-878-5642.
Free Financial Literacy homebuying class
MEEKER | United Way of the Yampa Valley is offering a free Financial Literacy Homebuying Class. This free, 3-class series runs Wednesday, August 19, August 26, and September 2, from 6:00-8:00 pm at 345 Market Street (Blue Spruce Room). Dinner and childcare are provided. MHS Class of 1961 to host 65th anniversary reunion Aug. 20
MEEKER | Classmates and families of the MHS Class of 1961 will join at the home of Mary Ann and Jerry Seely to celebrate their 65th anniversary on August 20. The class has held reunions every five years since their graduation and has also included former MHS Faculty members. A tour of the renovated and new high school is being scheduled. The 2021 reunion featured retired faculty member Dr. Gary Eyre who shared memorabilia and anecdotes of their experiences with alumni who reminisced about great and impactful mentorship. Dr. Eyre served as a football and head basketball coach and taught anatomy, physiology and biology. He is a nationally recognized expert on secondary education and an inspiration for his students who pursued extraordinary careers thereafter. A video teleconference call is being set up for those who may not be able to attend in person.
