RHS Panther volleyball hosts regional tournament

RANGELY |  The Rangely Panthers volleyball team has achieved a major goal set at the start of the season: hosting a regional tournament. Their 3-1 victory over the DeBeque Dragons on Friday secured their position as the No. 10 seed, allowing them to host two other teams for a chance at a state tournament spot.

The Panthers will face Gilpin County in the opening match on Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by a matchup between Gilpin County and Hoehne. Thirty minutes after that game, Rangely will return to take on Hoehne. With only one team advancing from this regional tournament, each match will be a battle.

Friday’s match against DeBeque highlighted Rangely’s determination. After dropping the first set 20-25, the Panthers fought back to win three consecutive sets, with scores of 27-25, 25-15, and 25-17. The victory marked their seventh straight win and improved their season record to 19-4.

The Panthers entered Friday’s game with six consecutive wins, including a prior victory over DeBeque, and delivered again. With momentum on their side, Rangely is ready to defend its home court and take the next step toward state.
