Book sale at the library this weekend

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library will host a book sale Friday Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1 during regular business hours.

Fourth annual chili cook off

MEEKER | Fourth Annual Chili Cook Off, Saturday March 1 starting at 4 p.m. at Smoking River Brewing Co. Enter your chili or be a taster! Awards will be given to People’s Choice, Best Green Chili, Best White Chili and Best Red Chili. Sign up on Facebook or pick up the form at the brewery. Tickets for tasters are $12 and includes two beers. 

Bingo fundraiser for student ecology trip

MEEKER | Join the 2025 Costa Rica Student Ecology Trip team from Meeker High School on Sunday, March 2 at the Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall for a community appreciation luncheon at 12 p.m. followed by Bingo games from 1-3:30 p.m. $5 for six bingo sheets. The students will do a presentation about the 2023 ecology trip to Belize during the break. Donations accepted!

White River Basin Over-Appropriation Discussion

MEEKER | The proposed over-appropriation of the White River Basin from Taylor Draw Dam to the headwaters will be discussed at a public meeting on Tuesday, March 4, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Rio Blanco Fire Protection Building in Meeker. The meeting will cover how water users and property owners may be affected and provide guidance on compliance with well regulations. Key points: New residential well permits on lots under 35 acres will generally be limited to in-house use only unless an augmentation plan is in place; Existing wells must adhere to their current permitted uses, and property owners are encouraged to verify compliance; Lot size and intended water use will determine if an augmentation plan is required. Economic Development Council to meet in Craig on March 5

Hunter education class March 7-9

MEEKER | ERBM Recreation & Park District and Colorado Parks & Wildlife are hosting a hunter education class March 7-9. Learn safe firearm handling and obtain your required hunter safety card. $35 per person. Classes will take place at the 4H Community Building, with a live fire test at the Meeker Sportsman’s Club Shooting Range. Find additional details and register at erbmrec.com/hunter_ed

LDS conference in Craig March 8-9

RBC | The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a two day local conference on March 8-9, 2025 in the Craig chapel at 1295 W 9th St., and are open to anyone who would like to know more about the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Speakers will include church leaders serving in the Vernal Temple, the Denver South mission area, and local church officials of the Craig Stake. The Saturday session for adults will be from 6-8 p.m. and the Sunday session for all ages will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on March 9. Visitors are welcome.

Library book club

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club is reading All You Have To Do Is Call by Carrie Maher. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, March 10, at 1 p.m.  Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!

Adult Open Gym Tuesdays

MEEKER | ERBM Recreation & Park District is hosting Adult Open Gyms (ages 18 and up) on Tuesday evenings, with a different sport featured each month. February: Pickleball at Barone Middle School, Tuesdays, 6 to 7:15 p.m. March: Basketball at Meeker Elementary School, Tuesdays, 7 to 8:15 p.m. (No Open Gym March 18) April: Dodgeball at Meeker Elementary School, Tuesdays, 7 to 8:15 p.m. ERBM Recreation & Park District Punch Pass required to participate.
