Sheila Colleen Caldwell passed away peacefully on Feb. 27, 2025, at Rangely District Hospital. Sheila was born in Sterling, Colorado, on Feb. 9, 1933, to Kathryne Amen and Herschel Freemont McBride. After spending her childhood in Sterling, Denver, and Steamboat Springs, she moved to Meeker, Colorado, where she met and married Hugh Leonard (Gus) Caldwell, Jr. on Feb. 15, 1952. Sheila lived and raised her family on the Yellow Creek Ranch between Meeker and Rangely and in Rangely.
Sheila is survived by her sister, Frances Brown; her four children, Colleen Poole (Keith), Lenora Smuts (Rod, deceased), Leonard Caldwell (Diana), Kathryne (Kathy) Caldwell; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Sheila was preceded in death by her husband; two grandchildren, Tyland Seth Caldwell and Nathan Hugh Caldwell; and one great-grandchild, Mahaya Janet Garner-Smuts.
