I was 13 when I first visited NYC, and I insisted on going to the Twin Towers and riding the elevator all the way to the observation deck. It’s a memory I treasure. Many years later I returned to NYC with my son, Ethan, who passed away in 2018 (if you get the chance to travel with your young adults, take it, no matter the expense). While there, we visited the 9/11 Memorial. The resilience, strength, and perseverance of the American people is an awesome thing to witness. We go on, in spite of it all.
As our little community continues the recovery process after the Lee and Elk Fires, may we be reminded of that spirit of resilience and take strength from knowing it’s part of our American heritage, all the way back to the beginning.
Be sure to check out Ed Peck’s take on 9/11 this week on Page 4, and the recent connection we have to those New York City heroes.
Also, a quick correction. Anyone who knows me knows I hate numbers and errors. Last week I got a double wallop. I misprinted the ordinal number on the Meeker Classic… this was the 39th year, not the 37th. My apologies!
All that talk of NYC and now I’m craving pizza. Thank you, dear readers, for your ongoing support.
