Vol. 141, No. 37
If my math holds, that’s roughly 7,369 editions of the Herald—printed in peace and war, through floods and drought, under every flavor of local, state and federal leadership, through epidemics and pandemics, booms and busts. In short: more than 141 years of showing up.
It’s a good reminder that local newspapers are community glue—holding our stories together, literally and figuratively. There’s comfort in that kind of consistency. There’s strength, too.
In this week’s edition: three newcomers who’ve put down roots and are already making a mark, updates from the county commissioners and both river/water meetings, local sports, and a stack of letters to the editor. In other words, it’s your news—about your community. Exactly as it should be.
Thanks, as always, for supporting independent local journalism.
