Dec. 11, 1953 ~ June 9, 2026
We are remembering Ali Kay Sissom who was born to Myrtle And Thomas Crawford in 1953 and died on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. She died comfortably at home being cared for by family as she herself had done for her parents.
She was the youngest of three sisters. She married her first husband, John Dade Jr., in 1972. They welcomed two sons before he died while serving in the military. She married Jim Sissom in 1983 and had their daughter in 1985.
After her first husband’s death, she went to school and got an associates degree and started her nursing work. She loved helping people. She worked at Hilltop rehabilitation center and later as a hospice nurse. Helping and caring for people was her life’s purpose and brought her great joy.
She spent much of her life owning and caring for animals. From her childhood pet deer, June; to her last cat Freya, she loved every one deeply. She had many types of animals as pets. Her father would give her sickly animals from his farm and told her if she could keep them alive they were hers.
She was a Girl Scout leader starting with her daughter’s Brownie troop to eventually being a leader for three troops. She enjoyed this so much, she did this for five years. They had all kinds of adventures during this time.
She is survived by her husband Jim; children Lex Dade, Jeremy Dade and Brandee Sissom; her loving grandchildren, from Lex; Kerran, Bently, and Emmy and from Jeremy; Sabrina, Kaleb, Levi and Brooklyn; and her sisters Lois and Lexina. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
There will be a memorial service at White River Methodist church in Meeker at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27. We ask that those who come to her memorial wear something purple, as it was her favorite color.
We would like to thank her caretakers from Hopewest , who helped care for her the last weeks of her life. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to HopeWest.
