Town of Meeker launching new water billing system

MEEKER | Town of Meeker water customers will soon see changes to their monthly utility bills as the town completes implementation of a new water billing software system designed to improve customer service and provide additional account management options.

Beginning with bills issued at the end of June, customers — excluding bulk water accounts — will receive bills generated through the new system. The bills will feature a new design and expanded payment and account access features.

Town officials said water rates will not change as part of the software transition. However, because the new system is still being implemented, the first round of bills generated under the updated software may arrive later than usual.

The most significant change for customers will be the introduction of a secure online customer portal. Once the system is fully launched, customers will be able to create online accounts to access information and manage their water service at any time.

Through the portal, customers will be able to view service, usage and billing information, update account details, enroll in paperless billing, save automatic payment methods and access additional account management features.

Although new online and phone payment processes will be introduced, town officials emphasized that all current payment methods will remain available. Customers may continue to pay their bills with cash, checks, credit or debit cards, or bank account transfers. In-person payments will still be accepted at Town Hall.

Customers will also continue receiving paper bills through the mail initially. Those who prefer electronic statements will have the option to enroll in paperless billing through the new customer portal after the system goes live.

Town officials said the software upgrade is expected to improve both customer convenience and the town’s internal operations by streamlining billing, payment processing and account management.

The town is encouraging customers to create online accounts once the portal becomes available in order to take advantage of the new features and payment options.

Officials thanked residents for their patience during the transition and noted that additional information, including examples of the redesigned bills and instructions for using the customer portal, will be shared through the town’s communication channels as implementation progresses.
