MEEKER I The Meeker High School Drama Club and International Thespian Society Troupe No. 1284 will present the hilarious musical “Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR” on April 10 and 11.
The club will present the musical beginning at 7 p.m. on both days at the Meeker High School auditorium.
The Emmy-Award-winning 1970s-era Saturday morning educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon is now the basis for one of the most fun and memorable musicals ever to hit the stage. It is presented by special arrangement with Music Theater International with lyrics by Tom Yohe, music by Tom Yohe and the book by Scott Ferguson and Kyle Hall.
Cast members include Sam Baylie as “George,” Mckenna Kummer as “Dori,” Sena Zellers as “Shulie,” Layton Bair as “Joe,” Sarah Gerloff as “Dina,” and Shana Holliday as “Tina the Teacher.”
Chorus members include Savanna May, Annalise Amack, Mason Holliday and Sidney Main.
Crew members include Michael Beck, the sound designer and technician and Cody Woodward, the lighting designer and technician. Directors are Gary Zellers and Laurie Zellers, and technical director is Bob Amick.
In “Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR,” we meet Tina, a young teacher as she anxiously prepares for her first day of school.
Attempting to calm her fears, she turns on the television to find the educational cartoon show we all know and love, “Schoolhouse Rock,” playing. Tina gets drawn in and soon the teacher is sucked into the television show. We meet a slew of colorful personalities as the entire company tries to comfort her and prepare her for the first day.
Memorable songs that bring Tina’s lesson plans to life include “Conjunction Junction,” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly” and “Just a Bill.”
Featuring many crowd-pleasing favorites, this musical is sure to entertain the entire community.
