RANGELY I The Rangely High School track teams competed in a meet Friday at Coal Ridge High School, where they met mild temperatures but high winds that made it difficult for all to compete.
Rangely had 25 athletes compete with 10 girls and 15 boys. Due to a couple of the girls’ teammates being missing, they were not able to run any relays.
The boys put together three teams for 4×100-, 4×200- and 4×400-meter relays. The 4×100 runners were Zach Glasgow, Brennan Noyes, Troy Allred and Ethan Allred, who finished 12th with a time of 50.79. The 4×200-meter relay runners were Kiki Ruiz, Nych Deleon, Colt Allred and Patrick Scoggins, who finished 12th for their race as well. The 4×400-meter relay runners were Mitchell Webber, Ethan Allred, Zach Glasgow and Patrick Scoggins, who finished fourth. They were able to improve their time by two seconds.
Rangely was able to pull together a coed throwers relay team made up of Meikka Peck, McKenzie Webber, Chance Sheppard and Kiki Ruiz, who finished fifth.
Individual athletes’ results:
Antoinette Dorris competed in all three jumps plus ran the 200-meter dash. She was able to run the 200 in 32.95, triple jump 26-11.5, long jump 11-5.25 and cleared 4-0.5 in the high jump.
Austin Ficken competed in both throws and the long for the first time in a varsity meet. He jumped 12-10, setting a personal best in the shot with a throw of 30-04.5.
Brennan Noyes competed in the triple jump for the first time at a varsity meet with a jump of 36-10.5. He cleared 5-6 in the high jump and he also ran the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.33.
Bridgette Rhea ran the 100-meter hurdles in 22.62 and the 200-meter dash in 31.30. In both events, she set a personal best.
Chance Sheppard competed in both throwing events, tossing the discus for 90-8, setting a personal best, and, in the shot put, he threw 33-6.5.
Colt Allred ran the 200-meter dash in 25.73, and he triple jumped, placing ninth with a jump of 37-11.75.
Dawn Stephens competed in both throwing events, setting a personal best of 26-2.5 in the shot put.
Ethan Allred threw the shot put for a distance of 35-04 and ran the 800 meters in a time of 2:14.37.
James Scoggins ran the 3200 meters for a time of 14.27. He set a personal best in the 800 meters in a time of 2:29.36.
Jessica Tolley competed in two throwing events, setting personal bests in each. She also threw the discus for a distance of 36-8 and the shot put for 21-4.
Katelyn Brown ran the 400-meter dash for the first time with a time of 1:07.41 and she ran the 200-meter dash, turning in a time of 30.02. Brown also competed in the long jump with a distance of 13-3.25 and the triple jump, placing eighth with a leap of 31-8.50.
Kiki Ruiz was a thrower and runner this weekend. He ran the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.61.
Marshal Way competed in the long and high jumps. In the long jump, he jumped 16-4.50 while clearing 5-0.5 in the high jump.
McKenzie Webber set a personal best in the discus with a throw of 61-3, and she also had a shot put toss of 25-10.
Meikka Peck competed in discus and shot put, having thrown 63-1 in the discus and 24-0 in the shot put.
Mitchell Webber ran the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 17.26, good enough for eighth place, and he ran the 300-meter hurdles, placing ninth with a time of 45.14.
Nych Deleon competed in 400-meter dash in a time of 1:02.19.
Patrick Scoggins competed in the triple jump with a distance of 37-8.5 claiming fifth place, and he ran the 800 meters in a time of 2:05.22.
Rebecca Gillard competed in both sets of hurdles, running a 22.62 time in the 100-meter hurdles, and she set a personal best in the 300-meter hurdles in a time 1:10.15.
Savannah Nielsen competed in two running events setting a personal record in both events. Savannah ran the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 meters in 6:31.21 and 14:01.00, respectively.
Sidney Shaffer was kept busy running the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes and competing in the long jump. She set a personal best in the 100 with a time of 15.45, she had a time of 33.01 in the 200 and a time of 1:14.45 in the 400. She also turned in a best of 12-2.5 in the long jump.
Troy Allred competed in the 100-meter dash, the 800-meter run and the triple jump. In the 100-meter dash, his time was 12.75, setting a personal best, he ran the 800 meters in a time of 2:17.34, and he hopped, skipped and jumped 36-0.75 in triple jump.
Zach Glasgow ran the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.15.
The Rangely tracksters will be on the road on Wednesday to a JV meet, then the team will host a meet in Rangely on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
