RIFLE I Colorado Parks and Wildlife has announced that the swim beaches at Rifle Gap State Park and Harvey Gap state parks near Rifle opened over Memorial Day weekend.
The pristine waters are popular with anglers, boaters and swimmers looking for a way to cool off as the days get longer and warmer.
Park managers remind the public that safety is paramount and ask the public to follow all posted rules.
“There are no lifeguards on duty, so we advise everyone to be careful when entering the water,” park manager Brian Palcer said. “Have fun, stay cool and enjoy your park.”
Palcer reminds swimmers that they must stay within designated boundaries marked by orange and white buoys and all children 12-years and under must be accompanied by an adult when in the water.
A $7 daily pass or $70 yearly pass is required for all vehicles that enter the parks.
To preserve its natural state, no camping or pets are permitted in Harvey Gap State Park and pets are also not permitted at the swim beach at Rifle Gap State Park.
