The National Association of Counties’ Community Innovation Challenge was held in Grand Junction from Sept. 16-18, focusing on retooling the local economy to become more resilient to change. It was designed to boost the innovative potential of counties and regions seeking to grow and diversify their economies.Those present included Mike Melneck of Colorado Northwestern Community College; Brad Casto of Rangely Auto Parts/Moon Lake Electric Board; Kristin Steel, the Rangely Chamber of Commerce executive director/Town of Rangely trustee; Rio Blanco County Commissioner Jeff Eskelson; Rio Blanco County Economic Development Director Katelin Cook; and Rangely Town Manager Peter Brixius.
