RANGELY I This holiday season Rangely shoppers will have the opportunity to win $250 from the Rangely Chamber of Commerce by playing the chamber’s version of “Elf on the Shelf.”

Each day, Monday through Thursday, the female elf, who has been named Sage, will be placed in a different eligible business around town. Eligible businesses are those who are members of the Chamber of Commerce listed on the chamber’s website.
Kristin Steele, executive director of the chamber, will post clues about the elf’s whereabouts daily on the chamber’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
Once shoppers spot the elf, they need to snap a quick picture with her and either post it to the chamber’s Facebook page, email it to the chamber or stop by the chamber’s office in Town Hall and show it to Steele.
Each picture of an encounter with the elf will be one entry into a drawing for $250 in Chamber Bucks, which can be spent at any of the local businesses that are chamber members.
An extra entry can be earned by purchasing something at the business where the elf is discovered and then taking a picture of the receipt.
Sage the Elf will be out on the town from Dec. 1 through Dec. 23 with Steele drawing the winner the evening of Dec. 23.
Steele is hopeful the game will encourage local shopping and add a little holiday cheer.
“The purpose of this is to get people in the door of our local businesses,” she said. “If someone goes in to the business to find Sage, they might walk into a business they don’t typically go into and realize they offer something they didn’t know they offered.
“Maybe they don’t buy anything in that moment, but they then have knowledge of what that business carries and they now go back in the future to make a purchase,” she said. “It also gives the community something fun to do and have a chance to win some extra money before the holidays.”
