Rangely boys victorious in three of five cage tests

RANGELY I The Rangley High School boys’ basketball team had an extremely busy week. They played five games in six days.

They Panther boys began their week on Thursday against Soroco and what a game it was. The first quarter was an up-tempo eight minutes with each team having success offensively.
Rangely trailed by two in the first period but played extremely tough defense in the second quarter, claiming a four-point lead at halftime.
They boys held their lead throughout a tough-fought second half and won 62-58. Patrick Scoggins led all scorers with 26 points, Mikey Shepherd had nine, Brennan Noyes had Seven, Kaulan Brady had seven, Troy Allred added six and Devin Ramirez had five. They played great team basketball and built momentum going into their Friday night game against Caprock Academy. They came out with a huge first quarter taking a 20-7 lead and never looked back winning the game 46-35. Kaulan Brady led the team in scoring with twenty followed by Patrick Scoggins with twelve, Brennan Noyes with six.
Saturday the Panther hosted Little Snake River in another tough game. The tempo seemed to get away from Rangely in the third quarter and they lost 58-38.
Monday night the Panthers began their post season with a “Do or Die” game against Vail Mountain. Rangely came out a little flat and trailed 11-6 after the first quarter but exploded in the second quarter scoring twenty points and taking a 26-23 lead by halftime.
They played great defense in the second half and were able to match Vail’s scoring, winning 48-46, advancing them to the first round of the District tournament Tuesday night against Vail Christian.
Brennan Noyes led the scorers with 16 points, Patrick Scoggins had 13, Kaulan Brady had nine points, Troy Allred added four, and Kobe Broome and Devin Remirez each added two in the win.
They played in Vail against Vail Christian on Tuesday but came up short, 69-56.
