Obituary: Mark Kuhlman

Mark Kuhlman
Mark Kuhlman
Mark Kuhlman passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016, in his home due to natural causes.
Mark was born in Rangely, Colo., and lived there until 1963, when his family moved to Soldotna, Alaska. Mark grew up in Alaska and loved the outdoors; he hunted moose and bear and fished for salmon at the “Big Eddy” on the Kenai River. He had a love for the woods and built more than one log cabin when growing up. He even enjoyed the Alaskan winters and was an ice-fishing enthusiast and loved snowmobiling.

He was graduated from Kenai Central High School in 1971 and afterwards went to work in Soldotna. In 1973, his family moved back to Rangely, where he made his permanent home. He loved to shoot, deer hunt and go camping in his early days in Rangely.
Mark was an expert “cat skinner” and worked on the Western Slope for many years doing construction, building locations for oil rigs and reclaiming land. He was well known for his expertise in his field.
He lived quietly in his later years due to health issues. His joy in life was his family; he especially enjoyed spending time with his nephews and watching them grow up. He loved teaching them to shoot and taking them prairie dog hunting whenever possible.
Mark is preceded in death by: his father, Rex Kuhlman of Grand Junction; his mother, Pauline Goddard Kuhlman of Rangely; and a brother, Kip Kuhlman of Rangely.
He is survived by: brother Cody Kuhlman (Julie) of Pueblo West, Colo.; brother Layne Kuhlman (Sandie) of San Diego, Calif.; sister Kelly Losher (Kirk) of Clifton, Colo.; two nephews, Dylan Kuhlman of Rawlins, Wyo., and Terrel Kuhlman of Pueblo West, Colo.; and two nieces, Andrea Austin and Ashtyn Austin both of Pueblo West, Colo.
He is also survived by: an uncle, Larry Kuhlman (Farida) of Grand Junction, Colo.; an uncle, Bud Goddard of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; an aunt, Phyllis Goddard of Rangely, Colo.; cousins Greg Goddard (Madonna); Toby Goddard (Julie), Colby Goddard, (Jennifer) and Gordy Goddard, all of Rangely, and Kori Shafer (Buzz) of Steamboat Springs, Colo., as well as numerous other cousins.
Mark was loved very much by his family and we will miss him.
Services are pending.
Arrangements are under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
