RANGELY I The future of Girl Scouts in Rangely is resting in the arms of volunteers to replace the current troop leaders, who are not able to continue as leaders next year, and adult leadership is needed.
Hilary Martin, the Girl Scouts recruitment specialist out of Grand Junction, said, “We’d sure hate to have girls who want to continue as scouts but can’t due to a lack of adult leadership.”
A little bit about volunteering, Martin said, “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Volunteering with Girl Scouts is flexible, fun and fulfilling. As a volunteer, you’ll introduce girls to new experiences that show them they’re capable of more than they ever imagined.
“We always need troop leaders to start new troops for girls in K-12 grade, and there are numerous other ways to get involved,” Martin said. “Meeting times, days and locations are up to the leader so it can fit in your schedule. Meetings tend to be about an hour with about an hour of planning. We have webinars and staff assistance available that makes it unnecessary to have any type of Girl Scout background. It’s easy for adults to join in on the fun and get registered today!
“We have current Girl Scouts who will lose out on this leadership experience, not to mention new girls, if we don’t have adults willing to lead them,” she said.
