MEEKER I The Barone Middle School and Meeker High School Band and Choir spring concert is set for Tuesday, and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the MHS auditorium and will feature all bands from sixth grade through high school as well as the high school choir. The audience can look forward to a wide variety of pieces, district music director Jeff Hemingson announced Monday.
The 8th grade band will be performing a piece titled “Don’t Feed the Drummers,” which absolutely lives up to its name, he said.
The high school band is playing a variety of pieces including “Theme from Jurassic Park” and “In Late November,” which is a beautiful, albeit emotional, homage to the month of November.
“The high school choir continues to impress,” Hemingson said. “The members will be singing four songs in the concert, including text from the famous Frostiana series of poems by Robert Frost, set to a beautiful arrangement for three-part voice and piano.
“They will also be singing an exciting arrangement of ‘Battle of Jericho,’ as well as a tremendous four-part anthem for music and peace, showing how music can be a way to bring peace,” he said. “The public is invited to join us for this special evening of music making.”
