Tom Farris, the devoted husband of Lori Farris, peacefully entered heaven’s glory on Friday, June 17, 2016, while surrounded by loving family and friends.
Tom was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., on Sept. 20, 1940, to Ottis and Wanda (Peterson) Farris. Most of his growing-up years were in Pueblo, Colo., where he was graduated from Pueblo County High School.
He faithfully served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963 and then in the Navy Reserves from 1963 to 1965. Tom served as an aircraft mechanic on board the USS Kitty Hawk, USS Hancock and the USS Ranger. While in the Navy, he received a Good Conduct Medal.
Tom married Lori Hermanson in July 1963, in Pueblo, where he worked at CF&I Steel. The Farrises later moved to Salida and then to Meeker in 1977. There, Tom worked at Colowyo Coal Co. for about 20 years.
Tom’s passion was hunting and fishing. He also loved bowling, teasing and ice cream.
Tom will be remembered for being a hard worker, faithful provider, devoted husband, protective of his children and grandchildren, compassionate and courageous.
Along with his wife, he is survived by: his family, Jonalie and David Comeau and Robert Farris; his grandchildren, Anna and Garrett Boon, Adia and Bill Wayman, Rachael Comeau, Andrea and Cesar Lopez, Naomi Comeau, Jonathan Comeau and Nathaniel Comeau; his three great-grandchildren, Teslyn Boon, Sequoia Wayman and Aeshan Lopez; his sister, Gloria and Clifford Heifner; and his brother, Wayne Farris.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ottis Farris and Wanda Peterson; and his son, Tracy.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Grace Bible Church in Meeker.
