State Senator Randy Baumgardner and State Representative Bob Rankin visited the Rio Blanco Water Conservancy District recently to review the Wolf Creek Reservoir project. The Wolf Creek Reservoir is moving forward and its benefits should create new opportunities for recreation and tourism, which would help local business owners in the town of Rangely. A few details should be highlighted as a follow-up to last week’s story. The price tag for the proposed 90,000 acre-foot reservoir is $133 million. Dredging Kenney Reservoir would cost $700 million. It is noteworthy that Kenney Reservoir currently has a 2-megawatt hydroelectric generator/turbine. The importance of the project is highlighted by our need to preserve natural resources.
