Lady Panthers play final home game

RANGELY | The lady Panthers had a tough weekend. They traveled to Vail Christian Friday. White team took to the floor first and showed some fight in the first set winning 26-24 and kept their drive alive winning the second set 25-20. Marlena Miller and Paityn Myers led the team in serving. JV was up next and had some trouble getting going, losing the first set 17-25. The ladies were not done fighting but came up short in the second set, losing 24-26. Varsity was up next. The lady Panthers started off slow dropping the first set 19-25. The second set they came out ready to fight back, winning 25-17. The Panthers were back in it but just couldn’t complete the match, dropping the next two sets, 21-25 and 23-25. Vail Christian capitalized on Rangely’s mistakes. Katye Allred led with nine kills, with Sarah Connor right behind her with eight. Lindzey Thacker led with earned points behind the service line with 10. On Saturday the lady Panthers hosted the Meeker Cowboys for the last regular season league match. White team was up first and showed a lot of heart. They beat Meeker in three sets, 25-18, 22-25 and 16-14. Cia Buxton had a stuff block and Jayleen Kenney led in serving to help the lady Panthers win. JV took to the floor. They fought hard and just couldn’t find their rhythm dropping both sets, 20-25 and 16-25. Varsity was up next in their final home match. They Panthers started a little slow in the first set trailing most of the set, but found away to come out on top, winning 25-21. The second set Meeker took advantage of the poor passing of the Lady Panthers, winning the second set 16-25. Third set the lady Panthers found their passing and were able to run their offense, beating Meeker 25-13. As the ladies went into the fourth set, it was evident that the passing game need to be on. The ladies struggled once more with their passing and struggled making key plays when they needed to, dropping the fourth set 22-25. With the fifth and final set, the lady Panthers took to the floor, and couldn’t find a way to terminate play, and found themselves trailing early. The lady Panthers could not find their passing game and dropped the fifth and final set to Meeker 5-15. Sarah Connor led with 13 kills, with Katelyn Brown contributing with 12 kills and Katye Allred had 11 kills on the match. The White team ended their season 6-5 and the JV team ended 12-8. All teams showed much improvement in the season. Great job to the young ladies. The lady Panthers will head to districts in Parachute on Friday with their first match at 12 p.m.
