RANGELY | “It was a tough season,” Rangely head football coach Paul Fortunato said. The Panthers lost their final game of the season last Thursday on Yaeger Field to the Plateau Valley Cowboys 42-0 and finished the season with a 2-7 record. “This year was definitely a tough year with injuries and disciplinary issues,” coach Fortunato said. It was also the final game for seniors Mikey Sheppard, Troy Allred, Zach Sulser, Nych Deleon and Damon Geyler. “I appreciate all these young men for their hard work this year and their great attitudes,” coach Fortunato said. “We had a great group of sophomores and freshmen and the future looks bright. I am excited to see what kind of players they will become.” Coach Fortunato was also appreciative of all the support his team and program receives from the community. “First and foremost, I would like to thank the parents for their support, Tim Webber and the Rec. District, Andy Shafer and the fire department, Buck LeBleu, C and J Field Services, Prater’s Plumbing and Heating, the ladies at the Bank of the San Juan’s, Rangely Conoco and Professional Touch,” coach Fortunato said. “If I am forgetting someone, I am sorry but I would like to thank all of these people for their ongoing support of the Rangely football team.”
