Gatherings planned at Coal Creek School

MEEKER | Once again people are going to be gathering at Coal Creek School for a walk back in time to a rural school that was in operation from 1892 to 1948. There are four different events scheduled to happen at the school in July. Participants for these events will be of all ages—from school children to senior citizens. As the time gets closer we will inform you which ones will be open to the public.
Most of the windows are in the school. The curved window on the front is in the process of being restored. The interior will be painted, trim and new doors installed and the floor refinished within the next few weeks.
There are opportunities for community involvement to help us finish this 125-year-old historical building. We need help on the education displays, landscaping and fencing the property, donation of materials, supplies, money and your time or talents.
The Rural School Project members would like to thank the individuals who have already contributed to the 125 Challenge and donated 125 coins or are contributing $12.50 for 10 months which would equal $125. We need lots more coins and donations to help us finish restoring this building and the belfry to its 1892 appearance. Donations may be deposited at containers at White River Convenience Store, Go-Fer Foods, the White River Museum or to a Rural School team member.
