Carolyn LeFevre

Carolyn LeFevre passed away on Sept. 28, 2017. She was born in Denver on Aug. 20, 1948, to Carl and Shirley Taussig. She spent her childhood
years moving from Colorado to California, Arizona and finally to Meeker, Colo., which she called home until she graduated from college.
Carolyn’s family worked in the cattle business and during her growing up years in Meeker she was very active in 4-H showing her steers at the county fairs. She was an exceptional student while at Meeker and graduated as the valedictorian of her class in 1966. She went on to earn a BA degree from Colorado State University in agricultural journalism in 1970.
She was married to Daryl LeFevre on July 27, 1969, by her Uncle Willard Taussig at a beautiful lawn wedding at her home in Meeker.
After Daryl returned from Vietnam in November 1971, they moved to Powell, Wyo., where Daryl worked for Marathon Oil Co. They moved to Cody, Wyo., in 1974, and lived in that same home until today. She helped Daryl start a consulting business, Darita Enterprises, in 1979, and worked often in the schools of Cody as a substitute teacher. She gave many young children piano lessons for many years, giving them the gift of music which she loved dearly. She never missed those cowboy song festivals in Cody and made many friends at the get-togethers.
Cody was home to her for 48 years and she was a big part of the community and all of its activities. She gave her time playing piano at the assisted living and rest home facilities for many years. Those residents came to love her and her golden retriever helpers. She was also the “peach lady” bringing fresh peaches from Colorado each year to many of her friends. Her love for wildlife and other animals gave her many hours of photographing the surrounding Cody and Yellowstone Park area.
Carolyn was very proud of her friends in her class and all of her friends in Meeker and was the “chief recorder” in keeping all of those friends informed through her many class reunion get-togethers in Meeker.
Her love of all she met made her a much-loved friend of all those in Cody and the surrounding area. She was truly a beacon of love and friendship to all that knew her.
Carolyn and Daryl had a daughter, Lisa Dawn, born prematurely in October 1972, who died after three days. After Carolyn had health problems for the next few years, she was blessed with the birth of Tony Neal, born Sept. 7, 1979. Tony was married to Sara Wagner on May 22, 2004. Tony and Sara had Dominic (10), and Isaac (8), the two grandsons who made Carolyn’s life complete.
Carolyn has one brother, Ron Taussig, who along with his wife Phyllis and their children Tuesday (Ken), Ronda (Jeff), Carl, Becky, and David (Aubrey), grieve for their much loved Aunt Rita.
Carolyn loved the outdoors, animals and people. She was always caring for something or someone and was never without a pet golden retriever (Trapper) and cat (George) by her side.
Graveside services will be performed in Meeker, Colo., at Highland Cemetery in Meeker at 11 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2017, with a light potluck luncheon to follow in Kilowatt Korner following her burial.
A celebration of her life in Cody is planned for Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Geysers on the Terrace in Cody.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Cody Community Concert Association for a scholarship in Carolyn’s name. Donations may be sent to Community Concert Assoc., 1314 Huff n Puff Ave., Cody, Wyo., 82414.
