The Superintendent’s Academic Awards Ceremony is a yearly event to honor student’s grade seven through twelve who have excelled academically at Rangely Junior/Senior High School. Students are chosen to receive specific awards based on their academic performance over the past year as well as their cumulative efforts. Seventy students were invited and received the Superintendent’s Academic Award and twelve sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA throughout high school while taking a rigorous course load or who were ranked in the top 5 percent of their class received the Distinguished Scholar Award. Mr. Tim Foster, President of Colorado Mesa University was the guest speaker and stressed the importance of academics to the students and congratulated them on their fine efforts. Dinner was provided for parents and students by Mr. Samuel Tolley, current board member and salutatorian of the class of 1979.
