• Screened porches are now coming into much favor. Screening netting and fixtures at the White River Lumber Company yards.
• Martin Slifka, practical German shoemaker. All work guaranteed first-class, and prices most reasonable. New shoes made to order. Shop in Scott Building.
• Salty wants to know what kind of bait Link was using — whether it was Budweiser or that of a deeper brown color?
• Campers are going into the upper White River county both thick and fast.
• Fish in White River are getting to a size that it behooves the fisher to keep a good grip on his rod, reel, fish and — reputation. Our county treasurer can give you pointers.

The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
• Organization of Yellow Jacket Conservancy District started.
• Highland Cemetery damaged by teenage beer party Friday.
• Jane and Janice Fulton, twin sisters, marry Meeker boys Herbert Anderson and Kenneth Mannel.

The Meeker Herald — 25 years ago
• A forklift raised too high brought down three transformer poles and cut off electricity to part of Meeker, causing $6,000-$9,000 in damages, according to White River Electric.
• Lightning caused a fire in Powell Park which destroyed three-fourths of Harold Anderson’s haystack before the blaze was extinguished.
• At the Rifle Creek Theatre, held over for one week, “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.”

The Rangely Times — 50 years ago
• Have you noticed the number of tourists going through town these days? A three minute tour up the street will reveal license plates from 15-20 different states on cars parked in service stations, motels, restaurants, etc.
• Mrs. C.W. Enterline reports that her son Harold Ray Turner has arrived at Fort Bragg, N.C.

The Rangely Times — 35 years ago
• Campus Theatre now showing “The Great American Cowboy,” “The Sound of Music,” and “Dirty Harry in Magnum Force.”
• The young people of Dinosaur have built a big “D” on the hill north of U.S. Hwy. 40. Helping with the construction, Lana Smith, Ruth Lancaster, LaDana Lancaster, Tina Truitt, Cheryl Smith, Priscilla Murray, Leann Smith, Grant Murry, Jimmy Truitt, Murry Tenstermaucher, Sam Tolley and Mark Tolley.

The Rangely Times — 20 years ago
• Headline, “911 no later than mid-September.”
• The Rangely Chamber of Commerce wants 15 minutes of your time for the “First Ever Photo of Everybody.”
• The tidal wave caused by the reuption of a volcano on Krakatau in 1883 reached as far as England.
• High temperature on July 30, 1989 was 86 degrees. Low was 58 with 0.02 inches of moisture recorded.
